Wynsors is on the ball for Halifax team
A TEAM of Halifax under 11s are celebrating after receiving funding for new kits from footwear retailer Wynsors World of Shoes.
Crossley Swifts Unders 11s, who play on Sundays in the Calderdale Junior Football League, are now sporting their new red and white kits.
Fundraising coordinator for the team, Mel Foulds, said: “We’re so grateful for Wynsors’ kind donation and we’re looking forward to the rest of the season.”
Wynsors, which has a store on King Cross Street, donated the money for the football kits through a scheme run by SponsorBank, which helps companies generate income to be used for community projects, as well as supplying equipment like high visibility jackets and sports kits.
Wynsors managing director Mark Richardson said: “We’re all big football fans at Wynsors and it’s great to see young people enjoying the game. We’re pleased to be able to help Crossley Swifts Under 11s and we look forward to following their progress!”

SPONSORBANK LINKS WITH DONCASTER SCHOOL
In July 2009, the newly formed Campsmount FC Academy at Campsmount Technology College arranged to travel to Toronto and Niagara to take on the Canadians in their own backyard! A group of 45 players and 8 staff formed the touring squad which would play 3 games against local opposition.
As well as the football, the group would experience some of the fantastic excursions that the region has to offer. A visit to the CN Tower, watching American Football at the Toronto Argonauts and staying at Niagara Falls were just some of the amazing excursions that were on offer to the squad.
In order to ensure the quality of experience for squad members, the academy decided to raise money before they went. Players were challenged to raise their own sponsorship and staff going on the trip were also challenged to raise sponsorship. After a year, the total raised exceeded £25,000; this came from local companies, fund raising activities such as bag packing and a race night, and certain funds available to be bid for.
As well as paying for excursions and all meals, Campsmount also wanted to provide each student with a quality kit package. This would serve as a momento of the tour but would also be useful when on excursions for recognizing each student as part of the tour in busy areas.
Campsmount decided to link up with Sponsorbank, following recommendations from previous customers and very positive initial meetings. A fantastic deal was struck up that provided students with the following kit from funds raised and from sponsors. Sponsorbank also agreed to sponsor the tracksuit tops:
- Large kit bag (sponsored by POWERFUEL)
- Small kit bag (from funds raised)
- Tracksuit bottom and jacket (sponsored by SPONSORBANK)
- Polo Shirt (sponsored by KEV PARKHOUSE FUND)
- Football kit (shirt, shorts & socks sponsored by VH Maintenance)
Once the requirements were sorted, Sponsorbank turned round the order in record time, allowing Campsmount to present all of the kit to students and parents at the tour’s parents’ meeting. Students and parents were amazed at the amount of kit that they were getting and wowed at the quality of it! Staff going on the trip also commented how impressive the kit package was, both in terms of quality and quantity.
Of course, the next step was to display the kit to the sponsors. Sponsors were invited in to see what their donations had helped to purchase. All sponsors were very impressed and in fact, one sponsor also then put in an order of polo shirts with the academy logo and his company logo on for his workers to use.
Without the help of Sponsorbank, we would probably have had to put up with less kit due to financial restrictions. Their help ensured that students not only had the chance for a special experience but also had kit that would guarantee their place as part of the travelling squad and would provide them with a lasting momento of the experience as well. We also made sure that the kit matched the school PE colours so that students could have the privilege of wearing the kit for their PE lessons.
I would recommend Sponsorbank’s friendly and helpful service (and their superb deals!) to anyone and look forward to working with the company in the future. We are now changing our suppliers of kit and equipment to Sponsorbank for the Physical Education department’s needs.

SPONSORBANK SUPPORTS THE DON'T X THE LINE CAMPAIGN
SponsorBank have joined forces with Mal Lee from the Don't X The Line Campaign to help bring respect back to the grass roots game.
The award winning campaign was founded by Mal Lee in 2003 and is supported by oraganisations including The FA, The PFA, Liverpool FC and Everton FC to name a few.
Mal had witnessed one too many unacceptable incidents in his role as manager of junior teams.
He said: “I was walking across Stanley Park with a fellow referee and decided that something had to be done. Between Anfield and Goodison Park this was an inspirational place to have the idea.”
One of the worst incidents of the time was a pitch invasion by two u/14 teams, managers and parents in a mass brawl which so easily could have led into serious injuries. Luckily we the committee were on hand to calm the situation, remember this is junior football.
More details can be found on the campaigns website www.dontxthelinecampaign.com
SponsorBank have agreed to supply the Don't X The Line Campaign Respect Barriers which will help to control parent and spectators and allow match official and managers to be able to do their job more effectively.

SPONSORBANK GOES BACK TO SCHOOL
Up to 30,000 primary school children across the North West are
to be given free sponsored pedometers and mini beanbags in the fight
against childhood obesity.
SponsorBank has joined forces with Manchester based charity, MedEquip4Kids,
in launching a new schools programme visiting hundreds of primary
schools throughout the region to help tackle the growing epidemic
of overweight youngsters.
Pupils aged 7 to 11 years of age will each be given a pedometer
as an incentive to increase their daily number of steps, while younger
children aged three to six years old will get a mini beanbag and
be shown a number of fun exercises that can be done with them.
The 'Get Active with Pip' programme has been created in conjunction
with Manchester Primary Care Trust encouraging children to adopt
a healthy lifestyle and get the recommended one hour of exercise
every day.
MedEquip4Kids
schools presenters will speak to pupils about the five steps to
stay healthy - healthy eating, drinking water, staying active, getting
enough sleep, and personal hygiene - before giving out games to
play at home along with the pedometers and beanbags.
MedEquip4Kids Community Fundraiser Rose Franks said: "We spend
hundreds of thousands of pounds each year providing hospitals with
medical equipment for children to make them better and are now hoping
our new schools programme will encourage the youngsters to do all
they can to stay fit and healthy."
Allistair Carmichael, SponsorBank MD continued, “In order
for children to stay fit and healthy, we need to make sure they
enjoy some form of regular physical activity. This project is not
just a short term “fix”. In addition to providing the
pedometers and bean bags we will continue to work with all of the
schools involved to ensure that as many children as possible will
be able to continue to partake in regular exercise.”
